What You Shouldn’t Miss This Week – 01/23/12 – Transformers, Real Steel, Touch

by Jeremy

Bumblebee and Friends

I know your time is just as valuable and limited as mine. There is hardly enough time in the day to watch, play and read as many things as you want. We’re going to make it easier for you by highlighting some of the cool (and of course geeky) stuff you shouldn’t miss this week.

Transformers- Robots in Disguise #1 from IDW Publishing comes out 01/25/12. Whether you followed them as a kid, just saw the movies, or watched the old, weird Beastwars CGI cartoon, this is a great jumping on point. It follows Bumblebee and the Autobots after the war for Cybertron. Unfortunately, Optimus Prime appears to be dead again.

Real Steel on DVD and Blu-Ray comes out 01/24/12. If you need to see Hugh Jackman as something besides Wolverine (for some reason), check him out in this robot-laden future that looks a lot happier than any of the Terminator or Matrix movies (or Bladerunner). It also reminds me of Robot Jox!

Touch will be airing it’s first episode on Fox on 01/25/12. Remember to set your TiVo to record the new show from Tim Kring, the creator of NBC’s Heroes. It has Kiefer Sutherland trying to connect with his emotional troubled son who communicates with numbers rather than words. In doing so, he finds out that everything and everyone is connected. It sounds very The DaVinci Code meets Buddhism.
