Big Bang Theory: Disc 2

by Doug

After my second disc of the Big Bang Theory, I realized my original assumption was correct. This is about a group that is (for some odd reason) humoring and babying an eccentric genius (Sheldon). Leonard then translates and filters as much as possible so that this eccentric genius doesn’t get beat up by almost every other character on the show. Add a hot girl who isn’t interested in anything intellectual as the yin to their nerd yang, and you have a great sit-com. Once you get that initial premise all you need to do is put Sheldon in different situations where he is going to lose his OCD mind and enjoy. I can already see the endless possibilities..and I look forward to them all.

Also I realize there is no longer a need for my disc-by-disc review knowing this is probably a complete summary. If anything unexpected or really interesting comes up, I’ll be sure to write something about it.

Big Bang Disc 1 Review

by Doug

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I’m catching up on a part of my life where I’ve apparently been negligent, by watching the Big Bang Theory. After the first episode my original thoughts were confirmed: Jim Parsons is the star and the reason for this show. His character Sheldon is the über nerd overlord of the universe. Lacking in all things masculine and social, while mastering all things geek. Every single situation that the group runs into makes you ask “What is Sheldon going to think of this?”

I’m not overly impressed with development of the lesser roles so far. But my guess is as the seasons roll on I’ll get to know and love Raj more than I know and love my own kids. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
